Dear Dancing Friends,
Our next dance is our Spring Charity Dance at the Copdock and Washbrook Village Hall in the evening of Saturday 7th March from 6pm to 10pm. The programme is on the event's page where you'll also find links to online cribs and videos, plus downloadable cribs. There are a few newer dances on the programme, but we will be happy to spend a little more time on walkthroughs for those that are less familiar.
The next event that is in the planning phase is another Beccles, Bury and Ipswich combined societies' day school on 6th June. More information will be available soon and will be posted in our events What's On. Please reserve the date in your diaries now for an excellent day of learning some new things and having a lot of fun.
Meanwhile classes running. Bredfield (Woodbridge Group) on Wednesdays is running weekly up to the 25th March, then from 15th April until 29th July. Any variations will be emailed to class members and will be posted on the Class homepage.
Bredfield classes start at 7pm for beginners and improvers, plus anyone more experienced would to come a assist. This then continues into the main class from around 7:30 until 9:30. Beginners are welcome to stay, but there will be more complex dances in the last hour. We have had several new dancers join us during the last year, and more are always welcome. Just get in touch. The first evening is free for you to try it out.
Nacton restarted on Friday 9th January. This will mark the fortieth year that Gillian Barella has run this class, but will be her last, so we intend to go out on a high to thank her for all her hard work. At one time a class for advanced dancers, it is now a more general class but still concentrating on improving technique. If you are at a loose end on a Friday night, you would be most welcome. Do check the Class webpage though for the dates as there are several Fridays when it does not run.

There are many dancing opportunities in the area, so keep an eye on our What's On listing. In particular we recommend the fun Friday Luckenbooth Circle evenings once a month at Bury St Edmunds. But also there is dancing at Norwich, Cambridge, Debenham, Beccles, Witham, Chelmsford, to mention just some of the places.
Videos of dances
Many people now use the YouTube videos to help with learning new dances, or just refreshing their memory on old ones, and these can be found via links on the Scottish Country Dance Dictionary cribs pages. However, not all dances have videos, and that applies particularly to locally devised dances such as The Saxtead Mill, Gillian's Strathspey and Jim and Margaret's Jig. So the Woodbridge class has been busy filling a few gaps. Click on the button below to see what we have achieved!
